A quality photo has a specific point that catches the viewer's eye. Also, good pictures follow the rule of thirds. Good contrast of colors also creates a professional looking image.
I like this photo because it gives a new angle on something that would otherwise be ordinary. I took this picture of a plant next to a crack in the curb. The angle and distance at which I took the photo makes the entire thing look like a larger, more epic scene. It kind of reminds me of a palm tree next to a canyon wall in a desert.
The contrast of the plant and crack against the dull gray color of the road and curb creates an eye catching picture. Although the crack is in the center of the photo, the plant is in the left third following the rule of thirds.
